Tomb Raider Opening in New Zealand This Week

It’s been nearly 15 years since she last graced the big screen but this week Lara Croft is making her highly anticipated return to cinemas across New Zealand.

Gone is Angelina Jolie and in her place is Alicia Viklander taking on the lead role as the icon that is Lara Croft in Tomb Raider.

Tomb Raider is a complete reboot, starting from the disappearance of Lara’s father Richard and following Lara on her journey to becoming the legendary Tomb Raider that we have come to know and love over the years.

The recent Tomb Raider games have breathed new life into the beloved video game franchise so we can only hope that the cinematic reboot is able to do the games justice. Video games that have been given the Hollywood treatment don’t have a good history with one of the most recent, Assassins Creed being a complete disappointment. The trailers for Tomb Raider look promising so we can’t wait to see how this turns out.

Tomb Raider is being distributed by Warner Bros and opens in cinemas across New Zealand on 15 March.
