Three leading ladies of Indonesian horror cinema—Luna Maya, Taskya Namya, and Shareefa Danish—are coming together for a new feature film titled Jalan Pulang. The project is being produced by Leo Pictures, with Agung Saputra serving as producer and Jeropoint taking the director’s chair.
During a press conference held on Wednesday (4 June 2025) at Plaza Indonesia in Central Jakarta, Luna Maya shared what drew her to this particular film.
“When we talk about horror films, it’s rare to find one with a truly strong narrative,” Luna explained. “They may exist, but personally, I’ve never come across a story like this. I play a character on a journey in search of answers, and that’s what intrigued me.”
Luna highlighted the journey aspect of the film as something that sets it apart from typical horror offerings. She described it as refreshing and unique.
Now married to Maxime Bouttier, Luna also praised the creative team behind the project, calling them energetic and passionate. She expressed admiration for both producer Agung Saputra and director Jeropoint, citing their enthusiasm as a major influence on her decision to join the production.
Taskya Namya, who plays the daughter of Luna Maya’s character, spoke about the emotional and physical challenges of her role.
“One of the biggest challenges was portraying someone who had to stay calm and protective of her younger siblings—even while knowing that she would be sacrificed,” said Taskya. “Shooting inside a car was also pretty exhausting. You have to visualise the whole situation without a full set. I remember filming with Saskia Chadwick during those scenes.”
For Shareefa Danish, returning to the screen with Luna Maya after years apart brought a mix of excitement and nerves.
“The last time I acted with Luna was ages ago, in Pesan dari Surga,” Shareefa recalled. “Being reunited in this film, alongside Taskya—whom I know to be an exceptional actress—felt like a whirlwind of emotions. I was excited but also nervous.”
Producer Agung Saputra considered the opportunity to bring these three prominent actresses together a rare and fortunate break. He noted that the casting process was more complex than it might appear from the outside.
Bringing together such powerhouse talent not only raises expectations but also signals that Jalan Pulang could be a standout entry in Indonesia’s horror film lineup for 2025.
