The Switch Lite aims to make handheld play more accessible, with a love price point at the cost of docking functionality.
The Nintendo Switch family of consoles welcomes a new member today with the launch of Nintendo Switch Lite, which joins the flagship Nintendo Switch console. Players now have the ability to choose the Nintendo Switch console that’s right for them:
- Nintendo Switch: The flagship Nintendo Switch launched in March 2017 and offers three different play modes: playing in TV mode by placing the console into a Nintendo Switch dock, playing cooperatively or competitively in tabletop mode by sharing Joy-Con controllers, and playing in handheld mode.
- Nintendo Switch Lite: A lightweight device with integrated controls designed specifically to play Nintendo Switch games in handheld mode, Nintendo Switch Lite is available in three different colours: yellow, grey and turquoise. Nintendo Switch Lite has integrated controls and is smaller than the flagship version of Nintendo Switch. It has no kickstand and, as a dedicated handheld gaming device, does not support video output to a TV.
Nintendo Switch Lite supports all Nintendo Switch software that can be played in handheld mode. It’s ideal for people who have lots of opportunities to play outside, and for anyone who wants to play online or local wireless multiplayer with friends or family who already own a flagship Nintendo Switch console via Nintendo Switch Online.
