Huawei Announce GT Watch Active is Coming to New Zealand

Well it’s been a while between drinks but Huawei have revealed that the Huawei GT Watch Active Edition, announced today will be coming to New Zealand.

It’s been a few years since the Huawei Watch came to New Zealand, the very first one was a celebration of design. A smart, sophisticated smartwatch that remains one of my favourite wearables. It’s very exciting to see that finally another Huawei Watch is going to grace the land of the long white cloud.

The Huawei Watch GT is designed to deliver smartwatch capabilities like industry-leading fitness and wellness tracking capabilities, while incorporating a two-week battery life to ensure consumers get the best technology without sacrificing performance.

The Active Edition features a 46mm watch face. Huawei Watch GT Active Edition is fitted with a 1.39-inch AMOLED HD colour touchscreen with a resolution of 454 x 454 pixels, offering users a crisp and clear display.

Ultra-long battery life for better experience

The Huawei Watch GT uses an innovative dual-chipset and smart power-saving architecture that enables it to switch between performance and efficiency modes, depending on an individual’s activity, to maximise battery life. The Huawei Watch GT Active features a two-week battery life with typical use including: all day wear and heart rate function activated, scientific sleeping function activated at night, 90 minutes of exercise per week and message notifications. Used without exercise tracking in a more traditional watch scenario, the Huawei Watch GT can stay charged for up to 30 days.

Industry-leading fitness and wellness tracking capabilities

While the Huawei Watch GT supports a range of indoor and outdoor fitness activities, the new Huawei Watch GT Active Edition will feature an additional Triathlon Mode. Three types of workouts are supported under Triathlon, including open water swimming, outdoor cycling, and outdoor running – allowing the smart watch to record the entire triathlon, including the transition time.

With ultra-long battery time and Huawei TruSeen™ 3.0 heart rate monitoring, the Huawei Watch GT supports continuous 24-hour heart-rate monitoring, allowing it to track active and resting heart rates. Combining innovative PPG optical and hardware design and AI algorithms, the solution can monitor the heart rate of users in real time with high precision. In Sport Mode, the Huawei Watch GT can be set up to notify individuals to adjust the intensity of their workout based on a pre-set target heart rate interval. Alternatively, in rest mode, the smart watch automatically monitors and records user’s resting heart rate.

TruSleep™ 2.0 scientific sleep tracking makes it possible to monitor user sleep quality, accurately identify typical sleep issues and offer over 200 suggestions for improvement of sleep quality and personalized sleep services. This is achieved through real-time heart rate monitoring, sleep breathing and big data analysis for better health management.

Classic look with modern sensibility

A variety of watch faces are provided in the Huawei Watch GT Active Edition. Whether it is for a social event, exercise or a work engagement, you can always find one to suit the occasion.

Fluroelastomer straps of Huawei Watch GT Active Edition not only improve the overall texture of the watch, but also creates a more durable, comfortable wearing experience. The Active Edition is available in orange and dark green. However, at this stage, New Zealand will only offer dark green.

The Watch GT will retail for a RRP of $349 and will be available to consumers to purchase from 12th April 2019.
