Telltale Games announce closure

A sad tale to tell this time

Coming out of left field this weekend, Telltale Games have announced a majority studio closure.

Telltale have been known to many as the studio behind such episodic titles as ‘The Walking Dead’, ‘The Wolf Among Us’, and more. A skeleton staff of 25 have been kept on to wind things down, but the majority of staff have been laid off.

In a statement released on Saturday, Telltale CEO Pete Hawley said:

“It’s been an incredibly difficult year for Telltale as we worked to set the company on a new course. Unfortunately, we ran out of time trying to get there. We released some of our best content this year and received a tremendous amount of positive feedback, but ultimately, that did not translate to sales.

“With a heavy heart, we watch our friends leave today to spread our brand of storytelling across the games industry.”

All of us here at CultureJam wish the former staff well going forward. We also mourn for The Wolf Among Us Season 2.

We will keep this page updated with further developments.
