The Mule joins the list of must see Drug inspired films
The Mule is now out in cinemas across New Zealand and it joins an elite list of films that make are a “must see” for fans of films based around drugs.
The Mule follows the fascinating story of Earl Stone – the oldest drug mule in history. Earl is based on real life veteran Leonard Sharp who was caught in 2011 for carrying over 90 kg of cocaine. Affectionately called El Tata (Old man) by the Mexican drug cartel, Leo changed careers from world renowned horticulturalist (known for hybridising popular breeds of Daylily) to world renowned drug mule due to his declining financial state.
To celebrate the release of The Mule, I thought I’d put together a list of some of the creme de la creme of drug movies:
- Training Day (my absolute favourite)
- Pulp Fiction
- Requiem for a Dream (truly, truly disturbing)
- Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
