Abhishek “Shake” Chatterjee and Deepti Vempati, well-known to Love Is Blind fans, have moved on in dramatically different directions since their memorable split on the hit Netflix series. Despite the tension of their breakup, Shake says he genuinely wishes Deepti well as she makes a name for herself in the influencer world.
Shake, who is still a practising veterinarian and also works as a DJ, is quick to clarify he’s not envious of Deepti’s new financial achievements. Speaking ahead of the premiere of his new show House of Villains, Shake pointed out that while he and Deepti share a reality TV background, their professional paths have diverged. “I’m actually happy for her,” he said. “She’s embraced being an influencer and is happy to promote things that suit that life. For me, I’m only comfortable posting about something if I truly believe in it.”
Since leaving her job as a tech data analyst—where she earned just over $100,000 a year—Deepti has told Fortune she’s brought in half a million dollars as a full-time influencer. Shake admits his income isn’t at her level, but says he’s proud of what she’s achieved.
Unlike Deepti, Shake hasn’t tried to cash in on his social media presence. Instead, he’s gone down a new route after meeting Love Is Blind fans at a Taylor Swift concert. Shake remains committed to his veterinary career but has also become a licensed loan officer in real estate, thanks to support and mentorship from a fan named Mama Jen. “It’s not about posting for money,” he explained. “It’s something I enjoy, and it suits me.”
When it comes to their current relationship, Shake admits he and Deepti are not in touch. He feels she didn’t step up to clarify negative stories about him in the media—a move he believes worked in her favour while harming his own reputation. “That did get to me,” he admitted. “She knew the real situation but didn’t try to set the record straight, because the story being told was working for her.”
But with time, Shake says, he’s put their past behind him. “I was really angry for a while because of all the negativity online. But now, my life’s moving on and I’m genuinely pleased for her success. Her achievements aren’t coming at my expense anymore. We can both succeed, and if anyone was going to make it like that, I’m glad it was my partner.”
Updates From Other Love Is Blind Couples
Love Is Blind has been full of dramatic twists for other couples as well.
Paige Tillman and Josh Simmons
This couple got engaged in season five, but their journey wasn’t shown after the proposal. On Instagram, they explained that they remained engaged for a while and even planned their wedding, but ultimately realised they wanted different things in life. They ended their engagement on good terms, saying they have “nothing but love and respect” for one another.
Renee Poche and Carter Wall
Renee and Carter, who also got engaged on season five and travelled to Mexico with the group, never had their story air. Renee later revealed that as soon as real life resumed in Houston, she saw red flags she had overlooked before. She decided to end things at the altar, describing the experience as an emotional rollercoaster—one with plenty of moments, both tough and uplifting, that viewers never got to see.
These stories show that for Love Is Blind contestants, life after reality TV is full of surprises, changes and new opportunities. Whether they end up in the spotlight, in new careers or simply moving forward, each one continues their journey beyond the cameras in their own way.
